Mascherano in Barcelona- videos

If you want to know what he said click here for summary in English.

Villa: I’m very happy that I don’t have to play any more against Barça.

Our new striker, David Villa gave interview to El Pais (click to read more)

Here are my favourite parts (translation by conlaroja.wordpress.com):

On his nickname: I like being called Guaje, more than David or Villa. It means “kid” in bable, and in mining areas, it refers to the helper of the miner. I like it when I’m called by this nickname, since it reminds me of home.

On goals: I more or less keep a tally of the goals I’ve scored. If I start to think about it, I can come up with all of them in one afternoon. You don’t forget about goals. At least, I have never forgotten a goal.

On Xavi & Iniesta: they’re good people. We know each other very well. On the field, I know what they’re thinking and they know what they can expect of me. It’s obvious that I arrived (at Barcelona) with this advantage. The ability of Xavi to find the weak point of the defense, to find you with a long or short pass, is a luxury for a forward. Xavi tricks you, you see him with the ball and you think, he doesn’t see me, it’s impossible, but he sees you, he always sees you and he knows perfectly where you want it, and he gives it to you there. It’s impossible for a forward not to have occasions to score with teammates like Xavi or Iniesta.

On Puyol: Puyi has some strengths that negate some of mine; we’re antagonists. He’s fast, he doesn’t give you space, he latches on to you. I’m very happy that I don’t have to play any more against Barça or against Puyi.

Training, happy welcome and sad goodbye...

It was a long day in Barcelona, there were moments of joy and some sad hours too.

Day began with training.

Pep spoke with press (click to read more). Pep Guardiola has congratulated Javier Macherano after a deal was reached for him to join FC Barcelona from Liverpool and stated that the midfielder will improve his squad. Pep Guardiola was pleased that new president Sandro Rosell chose to involve his predecessor Joan Laporta when receiving the league title trophy for last season on Wednesday evening.

Javier Mascherano has arrived in Barcelona and travelled straight to the club’s offices at Camp Nou where he posed for photographers ahead of undergoing a medical. Javier Mascherano stated that joining FC Barcelona is a dream move for him, he also has revealed that he has talked about FC Barcelona with international team-mates Lionel Messi and Gabriel Milito and what they said made his decision to move to the club even easier. "Messi and Gabi Milito have told me that if I came here then I would find a great group of players," he explained. (read more about it here)

Ok so we have "good part", and now some sad news, FC Barcelona and AC Milan have agreed a deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to move to the Italian club on loan for the entire season 2010/11 with the Rossoneri paying all his earnings.

btw, I usually don't share my personal opinions but I want to write that I'm disappointed, really where is the logic in such decisions? I can't understand it, I won't even try. I like Zlatan, but all that stuff that happened in last few days made me sad. We lost great player, we lost a lot of money, everything in hurtful climate. I don't understand our board, Zlatan said that they didn't want to sell him (so why they started negotiations!?) In my oppinion he should be angry with president and board, not with Pep. But I see that Pep is now treated like 'responsible' for this transfer, I hope everthing gonna be fine with Guardiola, but many people said worst things about our Mister, but as Pep said, decisions are made by board, he is just another employee.

Zlatan spoke with press and said "Guardiola is the philosopher who destroyed my dream of playing in Barcelona"( quote from El Periodico)- really sad to read such things:(

Happy Birthday Bojan!

On August 28th, FC Barcelona and Spanish Youth International Bojan Krkic Pérez turns 20. All the best!

Random news

I know that everyone concentrate on "Ibra case" but I don't want to discuss about it. I only can write that I like Zlatan and I hope he will stay with us, but we will see what will happen in few next days.

Other news:
Barca players: Valdés, Puyol, Piqué, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, Villa were called to national team for games with Liechtenstein on Sept. 3 for Euro 2012 qualifying, and to Argentina on Sept. 7 for a friendly.

Pedro aka Pedrito or Don Pedro spoke with press after training. “Mascherano is a good addition to the squad – he's a very strong defensive midfielder and he wins a lot of possession” he said. And also explaining: “I'm still training hard every day to win a place in the starting line up. I know that hard work is needed if I am to take advantage of the chances that can come my way”.As to Ibra, Pedro simply insisted that the Swede “is training along with everybody else and we don't know what is going to happen”. Pedro also made it clear that Guardiola was more given to speaking to the players as a group rather than concentrating on any individual. (click to read more)
