Another ordinary day?

Well, Wednesday in FCB was quite ordinary, there was training, press conference, but also few other highlights:)

But let's start with quick reminder about game against Panathinaikos:

Barcelona completed 792 passes against Panathinaikos. Opta Sports states that this was a record statistic since the organisation started analysis in 2003-04. Unsurprisingly, the previous record was also held by Barcelona, when they completed 717 passes against Rubin Kazan in the Champions League match last season.

With his two goals against Panathinaikos, Messi overtook Rivaldo to become Barcelona’s top goalscorer in the Champions League. The standings: Messi (27) Rivaldo (25) Kluivert (21) Luis Enrique (20) Eto’o (18).

Barcelona’s chief conductor in midfield, Xavi, has attempted at least 100 passes in all 12 of his Champions League appearances since 2009-10.

Xavi is the 14th player to have played 100 Champions League matches. He was also one of the lucky four of the previous 13 to have won their 100th Champions League match. He has spent 12 years playing in the competition with the only gap being in the 2003-04 season when Barça took part in the UEFA Cup.

Alves scored his first Champions League goal for Barça!

Carles Puyol played his first competitive match of the season against Panathinaikos. Previously he had managed just a few minutes in the Joan Gamper Trophy game.

As I wrote ealier, Pau Gasol was on the stands, but there were more VIPs for example Alejandro Sanz and Ainhoa Arteta.

After game players made some comments about game (read all here)
My faves:
Leo:"We knew that people had some doubts and we had to play well to banish those doubts”

Xavi:"Sometimes things don’t come off. On Saturday, it all went wrong. There’s no need to worry – that’s football. Today it all went right”.

Alves: "The very best Barça is back"

Pep Guardiola was delighted with his players’ performance against Panathinaikos. However, he believes that they have to keep on improving over the next few matches. (click to read more)

Ok, now some Wednesday's news;
The players had a light training session on Wednesday morning. As is the norm after a match, most of the players concentrated on recovery exercises though today the workout was tougher than usual. Iniesta worked out separately while Pedro had a visit to the dentist! Piqué is still nursing a head injury and was rested (more aobut his day-off later)

Photos:

After training session Sergio talked with press: “If there were any doubts about the team they came from outside. We never had any doubts even though we had a bad game on Saturday”. (more here)

And now some other news:
Pique enjoyed his day-off, he promoted his book. Asked about Messi and Ronaldo said that "right now it's a big difference, Messi demonstrates every day that there is no chance for any debate. Sometimes the debates are so absurd that it seems impossible". Well I agree, Leo is the best in the world, no dubt! So let's celebrate with brand new photos:

Someone wanted to make sure that Pique's head is in good condition!

Awww:P

It's not over yet!

Andres shared photo from his vineyard:

"The harvest began last week, the first for our vineyard. It promises to be a good crop, so I hope to make my wine soon. Hugs" he added.

Lionel Messi was in London to promote an F50 adizero football boot at event on Hackney Marshes on September 15, 2010 in London, England. Hundreds of fans turned up to see the Barcelona and Argentina international. The playmaker, travelling as part of a publicity campaign by sponsors Adidas, was due to make a 10 minute cameo appearance for an amateur side at Hackney Marshes this afternoon, although unexpected crowd levels ruined those plans. The organisers only revealed the location of Messi's arrival 30 minutes beforehand via social networking sites, after revealing clues to the Argentine's location throughout the day.

Quick twitter update:

After the game, one of VIPs Alejandro Sanz had the opportunity to visit the players’ dressing room, where he was presented with the team jersey signed by the players; he also confirmed that several first team players will attend his concert at the Palau Sant Jordi.

and here comes twitter part:
Adriano was at this concert with his wife, he published photos right from Palau Sant Jordi:

Here with his wife

And here with Alejandro Sanz

Lovely photos don't you think?
