Preparing for game with Sporting Gijon

Today was quite ordinary day in FCB world, there was training and Pep met with media (like always before game).

Barça trained with 19 players this morning, as B team players Nolito and Thiago joined the first team squad, still without Abidal and Messi. Jeffren was given the medical all clear after the training session and will be available for the next game. Leo Messi continued in the physio room receiving treatment on his damaged ankle, whilst Eric Abidal is still away on family business (Pep told at press conference that Abidal's grandfather has died- Eric our thought and prayers are with you and your family!)

So how about some training treats?

Than Pep spoke with press, main topic was Messi(anyone surprised?), despite his optimism, Guardiola also warned: “he’ll come back when he’s ready. It’s an injury that can have a number of after effects – if we don’t get him fully cured, it’s something he could carry with him for a while.

Guardiola also had words of congratulations for Andres Iniesta on the news of his upcoming fatherhood: “the important thing is that he and his wife are very happy and that their future child is okay. Getting Andrés back is the best signing of the season. He’s very happy and I hope that this happy event will make him even better and able to get back to his level”.

The boss also spoke of another World Cup winner, Sergio Busquets, explaining: “it’s his third year in the team now and he’s become a regular. He’s a stable player with a very strong character. It’s good for the squad that there is a new generation like him coming through”.

Pep was very ironic at press conference when he answered questions about himself (I hope to find any good English translations of this part soon;))

Tomas Ujfalusi will have to spend two games watching from the stands following his straight red against Lionel Messi on Sunday. The match official, Borbalán Fernandez, indicated that there was no intent to play the ball. As stipulated by Article 115 of the Disciplinary Code, Ujfalusi was eligible for a one to three game ban for his actions. In the end, the Committee chose to give Ujfalusi the middle punishment of two games.
